Augering is a more aggressive version of the jetting process that uses mechanical clearing in place of hydro flushing and is intended to clear major blockages such as heavy root intrusion that would not be cleared by hydro flushing. Augering is also known as rootering, therefore a drain auger and a rooter machine are the same thing.
Due to the aggressive nature of the process it is heavily discouraged that this augering or rootering ever be used on clay or concrete tile systems.
